Daoyin Tao - going Chinese?

Daoyin Tao ® - Chinese Face, Neck & Shoulder Massage

As the only therapist in Fife currently providing this treatment I would like to let people know a little more about this therapy.

Daoyin Tao (pronounced DOW-yin TOW) is a gentle and subtle treatment which can have huge effects. A totally holistic therapy, Daoyin Tao works on the physical, mental and emotional issues presented. The techniques used are drawn from those in daily use in clinics and hospitals in China and the Far East and are far removed from other therapies treating this area of the body. As the roots of this treatment lie within traditional eastern forms of treatment healing is encouraged through both physical and energetic levels.

Initially, treatments were aimed at conditions like sinus congestion and migraine but improvements have been noted with digestive conditions, backache and circulatory problems.

In my practice some of the most powerful results have been with clients suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. As a condition which seems to have a definite emotional and energetic drain as well as the physical and intellectual problems
a treatment which works on all these levels would seem to be the most beneficial.
(I say this as a previous chronic fatigue sufferer - in fact that's part of the "how and why" of me becoming a therapist)

In practice what seems to happen is after the first treatment there is a huge shift in energy - often with the client feeling extremely tired, but in a different way from the normal fatigue associated with the condition. Energy levels and clarity then seems to increase with subsequent treatments, the number of treatments required varies with the individual, but on average if an improvement is going to happen it is likely to have started after at most four treatments.

Like all therapies - conventional as well as complementary - not every therapy works for everyone, but as Daoyin Tao is extremely relaxing and generally useful for rebalancing - what do you have to lose by trying it?
